BVM Medical Limited was set up on 12 July 1989 and started trading on 1 November 1989.

BVM is a UK based company specialising in the distribution of Cardio Vascular and surgical products to Interventional Radiologists, Interventional Paediatric and Adult Cardiologists, Vascular and Cardiac Surgeons.

Recently BVM has diversified into Pain Management with the introduction of the Baylis Cooled Radio Frequency Ablation System.

BVM has been successful in growing the business from Ł35,000 in the first year to near Ł7m in 2006. This has been achieved by new products and by real growth of existing products. However, with the addition of exciting new products and with the promise of new distributorship the future looks very promising. BVM has established long term, productive relationships with manufacturers from the USA, Japan and Europe, including UK, France and Germany.

BVM has a strong ethic of building close working relationships with clinical customers and intellectual leaders, by offering 24 hour supportive services.

MISSION STATEMENT
To research and to provide innovative, quality disposable and implantable medical devices, for Cardiovascular, Interventional and Surgical Clinical Specialities, with the objective of improving patient care and treatment outcomes.

BVM believes that a personal service for the customer is paramount and will endeavour to provide 24-hour cover for delivery and advice.

SALES COVERAGE
With a Field Team of 7, BVM covers the whole of the United Kingdom and Ireland. BVM has a turnover of approximately $4m. However up until 2006 this was $15m. One of the Companies represented by BVM went direct after over 10 years of working relationship and after mutual discussion and agreement. BVM have a hard working team both Field and Office. The whole team has embraced the ethos and philosophy of the Company. BVM believes that Patient Health and Safety is of Paramount importance. The Patient, the Doctor, BVM Staff, BVM Charity Projects, Banks and lastly the Shareholders are important in the order listed! BVM believes in Long Term strategy not Short Term Profit by forging Long Term Partnership with its Clinical Customers and Companies it works with, not only to develop Market Share but also to Develop Products. BVM is an expanding operation and seeks to employ additional field specialist to spearhead further growth. The company looks for professionally quailed, personable, communicative and driven individuals, who enjoy responsibility and challenge. A Science Degree, a nursing qualification or progressive healthcare selling experience is the ideal backgrounds for BVM Product Specialists.

Managing Director of BVM is Harsad Chikhlia, who has been with the company for over 5 years. He believes strongly in having a professional, well qualified team of Product Specialists, who help to protect and advance BVM’s reputation of being in touch with the market, as needs be, 24 hours a day. He says ‘Our field personnel are important members of the BVM family. All our team members are the lifeblood of our company’s success.’

Katrina MacGregor (Scotland and Ireland)
Katrina graduated from Stirling University with a Joint Honours Degree in Politics and Sociology. After graduating, Katrina worked in the Educational Publishing Department for The Independent Newspaper as an Advertising Account Executive, working on a number of subjects, including aerospace. Later, she became an Account Manager on ‘Vascular News’ and ‘Interventional News’, before assisting in the launch of ‘Spinal News’.

In 2005, Katrina joined BIBA Medical as the industry liaison contact for the prestigious Charing Cross International Symposium, where she was involved with sales promotion, PR and marketing activities. The post with BVM is her first direct selling role.

Rachel Duggan (North West)
Rachel graduated from the University of Salford with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy. She gained qualifications in both reflexology and aromatherapy, before establishing herself in her own alternative therapies employment.

Rachel wanted to build a career for herself in the medical industry, so became a representative promoting a range of respiratory and cardiovascular products on behalf of Astra Zeneca. However, she was attracted to device selling, so joined BVM to progress her career.

Debra Jane Pullan (North East)
Debra gained an HNC in applied biology before starting a career as an Experimental Officer with ICI plastics. After a break for family commitments, she then became a Senior Science Technician at a nearby senior school, before deciding to change direction and enter the pharmaceutical industry as a Medical Representative. She passed her ABPI exams in the first attempt.

With a number of appointments in household-named drug houses, Debra moved to BVM, after a period in Pain Management with MEDA Pharmaceuticals.

Edward Mahon (Wales and S.West)
Edward gained his Diploma in Adult Nursing at the Southbank University (Ireland) before coming to England in 2000 and starting his NHS career at Whipps Cross Hospital as a Staff Nurse.

After some 4 years, Edward was promoted, working in a busy coronary care unit. Nevertheless, he was looking for new challenges and horizons in 2007, and was attracted to BVM’s diverse range of intervention devices.

Dean Chalmers (London)
After a spell of working for the forestry commission and then Rentokil, Dean qualified as an ODA, after attending Chelmsford’s Anglia University with a City and Guilds Level 3 in operating practice.

After six years in the NHS, Dean decided on a Surgical Specialist career with Molnlycke, before selling in the first aid and cardiac accessories markets. He joined BVM in 2007.

Jaykumar Patel (Central)
After gaining his BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sheffield, Jay moved to the University of Leicester to complete his Masters in Molecular Pathology and Toxicology.

After a spell of employment in Leicester City Council, Jaykumar decided on a change of career direction, and joined Pfizer as a Primary Care Sales Representative. However, he then fancied being more involved with devices, so joined BVM.

Nigel Maynard (South and South East)
Nigel is well travelled, which has provided him with excellent selling and communication skills from all walks of life and culture. His engineering background has also allowed him to understand medical products, and how they function within the body. Nigel follows the BVM Company philosophy that patients always come first; ensuring patient safety is never compromised.
